Fluidization Principles Learned through Hands-on Participation

Due the COVID-19 pandemic, ACT has decided to postpone the Fluid Bed Seminar to a future date for the safety of our employees and clients. ACT will be contacting those who have already registered with additional information.

Seminar Purpose

A general overview of agglomerating, coating and drying in a fluid bed. This seminar will present the principles of fluidization, air flow, pressure drop, entrainment, dust collection, spray rates, and nozzle configurations. Each principle will be discussed in theory and demonstrated in ACT’s laboratory. During demonstrations, participants will obtain hands-on experience with ACT’s 100N, 300N and PG-100 Fluid Beds.

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) are awarded for attendance in this seminar. Contact us for details or fill out our registration form for the seminar.

Conference Staff

Ray Shirley, P.E.Chairman/Engineering Advisor with over 40 years experience in the chemical and fertilizer industries, Mr. Shirley invented the falling curtain granulation process while working at TVA. He has presented or published over 30 papers and patents on new developments.

Mike Huey, P.E.Director of Special Projects, Mike has over 40 years experience as process engineer/project manager for numerous plant expansions and start-ups in the chemical industry.

Scott PeedenLaboratory Manager, Scott has over 23 years experience performing conceptual testing using lab/pilot plant fluid bed equipment. He has developed several patented fluid bed processes.
